June 2008 Handel House Museum, LondonThe Burney Players - Handel House's ensemble-in-residence - will premiere John's first commission for the museum. The piece - 'Where the Eye can see' - is based on an aria which Handel wrote to insert into the 1751 performance of Esther (not 1732, as asserted in the Handel House's recent newsletter - apologies). The piece is scored for soprano, violin, cello, recorders and harpsichord.
